As an association of health insurance professionals, LAAHU has determined that only credible, well-run charities whose activities demonstrate significant consistency with our organization’s vision and goals shall be the recipients of our financial support.

YOUNG & HEALTHY
www.yhpasadena.org/who-we-are/

The primary focus of Young & Healthy is to provide support and coordination of free medical services for uninsured or underinsured children. Over 300 providers, from primary and specialty providers, hospital and ancillary services, have volunteered to provide specified amounts of pro bono care to the community’s uninsured children. The school systems, and other community agencies and organizations that are points of contact for uninsured children with medical service needs, refer children to Young & Healthy. A brief intake is performed, after which the appropriate providers are contacted and appointments made. In some cases transportation and translation services are also provided. Additional care is coordinated in the same fashion, including surgeries and hospitalization.

Once a child is being provided services under the Young & Healthy program, an assessment is made of public and private insurance programs that the family may qualify and every effort is made to assist them in enrolling the child.

Young & Healthy, at the helm of the Health Access Task Force, has enrolled over 16,000 children in insurance programs; many programs that include MediCal, Healthy Families, Kaiser for Kids.

Young & Healthy was started by a church that has a long history of evaluation of community needs, development of service organizations designed to meet the identified needs and then spinning off of the incubated, self-sufficient and independent 501© 3 organizations. There is no residual affiliation with the church.
